This exhibition is the student-creation showcase of the 113th school-year “Arts in Schools” programme at Chiayi Art Museum, titled Fountains, Trees, and the Foot of Mount Zhuoluoshan (Phùn-tsuí, tshiū-nâ, Tsu-lô-san ê suann-kha). It emphasizes that teaching and learning happen not only inside classrooms but also within our everyday environments. This year’s programme invited five young artists based in the Chi-Nan region to lead students from five schools in Chiayi through the overlapping trajectories of past, present and future life. Through observation and the use of diverse textures and creative methods, students expanded their imagination of home and its multiple developmental dimensions.
Artist Lin Ying-Chieh designed an eight-week course for students at Yuren Elementary School, encouraging them to explore their campus through sight, touch, and sound. Divided into five groups according to different areas of the school, students created sensory-based artworks inspired by color, texture, sound recording, and local plants. Each students produced a handmade object as a personal memento before graduation, transforming everyday spaces into poetic reflections of their learning environment.
